Cut, Fold, Repeat.

At dan pearlman, the danzine started as an internal passion project and became one of the most hands-on design challenges of my early career. Working closely with Susan Stäbler, we built the publication from scratch – layout, visual identity, and the modular grid system that would carry future editions. The first prototypes were printed and hand-bound in-house, every detail refined until it felt right.

More than just a Layout.

What Set Us Apart

My role extended into the editorial: translating written pieces, curating and editing imagery, shaping the voice and visual direction of each section. A zine that reflects an agency's culture has to feel lived-in – opinionated, considered, a little rough around the edges in exactly the right places. That balance between craft and spontaneity is what made it stick.

Derivation

The danzine was where I
learned that a modular grid isn't a constraint – it's a creative decision.
