westfalia – darum ist es am rhein so schön
BA PROJECT 2017
The Rhine river as Düsseldorf's first and main trade route became the route of action within my Bachelor project, focusing on city marketing:
The project expanded over six months and included a three-dimensional model and image video of a fictional exhibition, a collection of posters for advertising and merchandising purposes as well as a printed guide to the MS Westfalia and its concept.
My thesis revolved around the discovery that city marketing campaigns are more engaging when they combine a tangible experience with pride of local residents. The MS Westfalia is a two story ship that - in my mind - travels along the Rhine river and shows Düsseldorf's culinary, historical and artistic essence to its neighbors, giving a preview of the city's many sights and virtues.
